It’s always nice to look out the window. Nature really is beautiful. How the butterflies blend in with the green of the trees. How beautiful are the ladybirds that rest on your hands! The smell of rain and the blue of the sky are things we just cannot get enough of. When you are looking out the window you can’t help but fantasize. You can bring alive things that can never be in the real world. Sickness is not present in the fantasy world and neither is death. Everything is beautiful and there is no despair. Love is as it should be and in all the places it should be. In the fantasy world, we are the best we can be and people love us just for who we are. We have no faults in this world.

Then back to the real world where things are not as right. There is domestic violence, violence, rape, child abuse and poverty amongst other injustices. There always seems to be one injustice after another and we are always living in fear and anxiety about tomorrow. In the real world, there are no trees and those that are there are not green.  The skies are always cloudy and the sun never smiles on us, it just scorches. There are neither butterflies nor ladybirds because they die in the mess that is global warming. In the real world there is mostly room for despair, but does this mean that we should give in and despair?

It’s always winter but never Christmas

It seems this curse just can’t be lifted

Yet in the midst of all these ice and snow

Our hearts stay warm coz they are filled with hope

Coz when it’s always winter but never Christmas

Sometimes it feels like You’re not with us

But deep inside our hearts we know

That You are here and we will not lose hope

(Always winter, Relient K)

I do not remember the last time i saw a butterfly (I love those creatures) or a lady bird.
I guess its up to us not to choose dispair…

I know….when I was little, there used to be ladybirds and butterflies everywhere…today they are nowhere to be seen. So sad! It is up to us and our attitude towards ife I guess…
